Can a homemade plane revolutionise manufacturing in India?

An engine is the heart of a vehicle's operating system and ultimately what makes the vehicle a successful form of transportation. Without the engine, a vehicle is just another big piece of stamped out metal appearing in various shapes and sizes. In addition to being manufactured for vehicles, engines are also built for aircraft and large machinery equipment, such as Caterpillar excavators and dozers. They are also used in trailer manufacturing for the hydraulic systems.

Mumbai, India - When a commercial pilot in India announced in that he would build a plane on top of the roof of his home, most people thought he was joking because he had no aeronautical engineering experience. Yadav, who works as a senior commander with Jet Airways and flies twin-engine turboprop planes, said it was his longtime dream to build aircraft. Despite the fact his family's construction business was running a significant loss that year, they decided to fund his "dream" project.

Airlines are Increasingly Connecting Artificial Intelligence to Their MRO Strategies

Sweden started producing its own fighter aircraft after the Second World War. The succession of fighters counts to five jet fighter families, all developed and produced by Saab: Tunnan, Lansen, Draken, Viggen and Gripen. The Viggen was produced in four versions: reconnaissance, sea surveillance, ground attack and air defence. Studies and research started in the s for a replacement of the Vig-gen fighter. After assessing and abandoning other alternatives, the choice was made to go ahead with a Swedish solution. A decision was taken that what would become Gripen should be a multirole fighter, optimizing the air defence capability. The Gripen development started with a concept study in , and in with the first order to Saab, with the first flight in

The past oil crises have caused dramatic improvements in fuel efficiency in all industrial sectors. The aviation sector—aircraft manufacturers and airlines—has also made significant efforts to improve the fuel efficiency through more advanced jet engines, high-lift wing designs, and lighter airframe materials.

The Gripen Fighter: Present and Future Flight
